so we recently made the move from the highly populated metro area of tampa bay to a charming and small island town on the east coast. there were a multitude of reasons behind the move, one in particular being that my little boy was getting ready to start kindergarten & i was scared to death to have him in the public school system of a ginormous city.
i THOUGHT it would be a better experience for everyone. i THOUGHT that people here would all be more polite and hospitable...that was until i had to take part in the ritual battle called elementary after-school pick-up.
seriously.
i saw better behavior sitting on the howard-franklin bridge at 5:00 in stand-still traffic.
i've seen people be nicer to each other during the early-morning mad-dash for the gates of disney world.
really.
and while i was very courteous to the minivans full of children cutting me off & the mommys gesturing rudely at me with their cell phones glued to the side of their heads - while i shrugged my shoulders and simply smiled - what i really wanted to do was...
